As a general rule, your accreditation must feature a admission score for the Spanish university. Depending on your area of interest, you may have to take Specific Competency Tests (PCE) and/or request the recognition of subjects in your upper secondary studies. In some cases, you may also be required to produce accreditation of language proficiency.

Whatever the case, it is always a good idea to check with the universities of your choice to know what is expected of you.

Calculated with the academic record

It is a score ranging from 5 to 10 points, whose bases for calculation depend on the applicant’s academic transcript and home education system. You can find more on this in Annex II and UNEDassis rules and regulations (Reglamento UNEDasiss).

It depends on your academic record and/or the exams you pass

This consists of establishing a link between the subjects or tests taken by students in their education system of origin and the branch of undergraduate studies they choose to study.

To accredit a Bachillerato Modality, it is necessary to pass the subjects set for each of the existing modalities in Spain: Plastic Arts, Image and Design; Science and Technology; General, Humanities and Social Sciences.

The Bachillerato Modality will be obtained according to the subjects taken in the student's education system of origin.

To be awarded the modality, students must have passed a minimum of three subjects in their education system that are equivalent to a common subject, a compulsory subject and an optional subject of the chosen modality, according to the following criteria:

a) One subject from the block of common subjects, taken in the last year of their secondary school studies.

b) One subject from the block of modality-specific subjects, taken in the last year of their secondary studies, depending on the pathway selected.

c) One of the following subjects, according to the selected pathway:

  1. Science and Technology: Mathematics in the last two years of secondary school.
  2. Humanities and Social Sciences: Any mathematics subject in the last two years of secondary school or a second language or Latin in the last year of secondary school.
  3. General: Any subject from the specific "Science and Technology" subjects in the last year of their secondary school studies.
  4. Visual Arts, Image and Design: Any subject from the branch of arts in the last two years of their secondary school studies.

d) Those subjects required for the Bachillerato Modality to be awarded that have not been taken in the education system may be completed with PCE. For the Bachillerato Modality, only the PCEs taken in the year of the call and in the previous call will be considered.

Applicants can improve their admission score for each Specific Competency Test they take, as universities may add up to 4 points to the initial admission score by applying specific formulae to the scores obtained in each test.

Students can take up to 6 PCE subjects if they wish so, though taking two subjects is enough for university application.

Recognition of subjects

(Subjects taken or examined and passed in your education system equivalent to a Spanish subject)

Botón
Subjects taken or examined and passed in your education system equivalent to a Spanish subject

It consists in the recognition of subjects studied or evaluated and passed in your educational system as being equivalent to a Spanish subject. The recognition of a subject may have the same value as taking a Specific Competency Test (PCE) for said subject, so long as this abides by admission criteria at your future university. You can only seek the recognition of subjects taken during the last two years of secondary education and the last two years before the application.

This service is limited to upper secondary studies that are included in the Annex I to the Regulation.

Recognized subjects

  • The syllabus of the subject taken in the home country, which should be translated into Spanish or English.
  • A certified copy of the academic transcript which includes the subject that was taken.
  • A website where official syllabi are published
    • UNED shall only assess subjects that are similar to those taken in Specific Competency Tests. The deadline to request the recognition of new subjects ends on April 30th of each year. From that date you can only request the recognition of subjects that already appear as favorable in the application.

Language level required by some universities

This is the verification of a prospective student’s language proficiency in accordance with the Common European Framework of References for Languages. Language test results and certificates that are and/or recognised by the Spanish Language Centres in Higher Education (ACLES) can be include on the accreditation UNEDasiss.

 Find out more

UNEDasiss gives international students the opportunity to obtain evidence of their language proficiency in UNEDasiss accreditation, which they can use when applying to university. Evidence of language proficiency may be necessary when specific language skills are part of requirements to be enrolled at a university or in specific degree programmes.

Therefore, the UNEDasiss accreditation may provide information relating to language proficiency in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR). Such information is limited to language test results and certificates issued and/or recognised by the Spanish Association of Language Centres in Higher Education (ACLES). If you are interested in taking a language proficiency test at UNED you can check the range of options available at the Centre for Distance Language Learning (CUID).

We at UNEDasiss do not conduct language proficiency tests; our role is to make sure that our accreditations contain prospective students’ language proficiency scores/levels. Only the scores and certificates recognized by the Spanish Language Centres in Higher Education (ACLES) shall be admitted. You may find more on this here.
